Facts and Fallacies about Resume

During my course of study I have learnt that many people have misconceptions about the purpose of Resume and Resume itself.
Here are the some of Fallacies about Resumes:
1. The purpose of your Resume is to list all your skills and abilities.
2. A good Resume will get you the job you want.
3. Your resume will be read carefully and thoroughly by an interested employer.
4. The more good information you represent about yourself in your resume, the better.
5. If you really want a good resume, get it prepared from resume service.

On the contrary, here are some of the facts about resume (related to fallacies listed above):
1. The purpose of resume is to develop employer interest and generate and interview.
2. All a resume can do is get you in the door for an interview.
3. Your resume probably has less than 45 seconds to make an impression.
4. Too much info on a resume may actually kill the reader's appetite to know more about you.
5. Prepare your own resume - unless the position is high-level or specialized. Even then you should review it thoroughly before using any resume service.
